About

Tali Sedgwick, Food NERD

I embarked on a new career in 2006, studying public health and nutrition after 10 successful years in the fashion industry, honing my skills of event production, leadership and communication. I received my Nutrition Educator (NE) Certification through Bauman College in 2009 and completed my Registered Dietitian (RD) program at San Francisco State University in 2010.

This powerful combination of holistic thinking backed by evidence based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) makes me a dynamic and unusual practitioner who excels at group work as well as one-on-one counseling both in and out of the hospital.  During my “Dietetic Internship” (a 10 month requirement for licensure) I gained clinical and community experience working at the San Francisco VA, Kaiser Permanente and with the American Heart Association to name a few.

I am a member of the American Dietetics Association as well as the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine and Nutrition Entrepreneurs subgroups and on the board of the Bay Area Dietetics Association. I continue to educate myself on up to date nutrition research and especially enjoy attending “foodie” events in San Francisco where I live and work.

My focus is on eating delicious local and sustainable food, honoring the mind/body connection and tapping in to the healing power of a whole foods diet.

My goal is to keep you informed about smart, fun and healthy choices you can easily make to improve your life. Whether you’re trying to lose a little weight, have more energy, be a more efficient athlete, manage (or ward off ) a chronic disease or just feel better about yourself, I hope I can help you get just a bit closer to your goal whatever that may be!

While I am a health professional, the contents of my website/blog are my opinions and general information  and not meant to be diagnostic or used in lieu of working with your physician.

This website/blog is for me to share my passion and my point of view.  If you are interested in working with me professionally (in-person/phone consults, group education/talks, workplace wellness) or if you just want to say “HI” you can find me at: tali [at] food-nerd dot com.
